Bart began shooting professionally in his late teens while traveling to locations he could have never dreamed of. As a freelance photographer he shot professional paintball and its lifestyle for 3 out of 4 of the top industry magazines.
Eventually moving from shooting sports to studio work with his attention on lighting and fine detail. The diversity between a journalistic style and high end studio work has given him a unique ability to deliver effective photographs for a wide range of applications. Bart specializes in a wide range of photography, from product, catalog, portrait, to beauty. He also has the ability to retouch in these categories, without outsourcing, and retaining a high level of quality.
Bart shot his first wedding when he was asked by his friend Alex Lundqvist. Bart's background and journalistic style made it a very natural fit for photographing weddings in a way he could stand behind his work. Foreseeing when things will happen is very important when it comes to photographing a wedding. Shooting sports in the past was a great help in honing these skills.
Especially when it comes to wedding photography, it's crucial for him to work without altering or getting in the way of anything throughout the day. Usually, the group photos need some posing and directing, but for the most part, the day is recorded as it would if there was no photographer. This way, when the couple and family look back on that day, they remember an experience that was their own and not something staged just for show. It also lets the couple enjoy their day and keeps their it from becoming another day of work just by not having to worry about posing all the time for the photographer. One of Bart's most important abilities is capturing these genuine moments, without the subjects even knowing.
He believes that planning and art direction are one of the most important aspects long before any photographs are taken. Weather he's shooting a product, person, or wedding, meeting with the client and collaborating to create effective images is the first and most important part of the entire process.
Bart currently lives in New York with his wife and beagle.
